Prof. Koen Binnemans (General Coordinator, Supervisor ESR1, Supervisor secondments ESR9-10) is specialised in hydro, solvo and ionometallurgy. His core expertise lies in critical metals and the use of ionic liquids in solvent extraction. He has extensive teaching experience, published far over 310 papers and has over 11,000 citations. Experienced coordinator of ITNs (FP7: EREAN, H2020: REDMUD and DEMETER). Supervisor of 29 completed PhDs. Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts.
